Neuromuscular Re-education

NEUBIE is NeuFit’s patent-pending device. It is an acronym for “NEURO-BIO-ELECTRIC STIMULATOR.” Combined with our protocols, the NEUBIE can find neurological deficits in the human body with incredible precision. The nervous system controls every muscle movement. So if a movement dysfunction is contributing to your pain, keeping you injured, limiting your mobility, or robbing you of performance, then our approach can help you.

We are the only Physical Therapy Clinic in the North East offering this new technology to our patients and community. This amazing new technology helps decrease pain, increase performance, and more. Unfortunately, this amazing new service is NOT covered by insurance, so anyone looking to take advantage of this great new device will do so at a very fair out-of-pocket expense.

The Science

The NEUBIE waveform has two main benefits. First, it provides direct current (DC) and matches the signals the nervous system sends naturally on its own. Direct Current (DC) is essential because it has numerous positive biological effects. For example, DC fields will accelerate the body’s physiological processes of healing, repair, and regeneration.

Although this has been known for a long time, most devices are alternating current (AC). This is because these devices are cheaper and easier to engineer, and most people don’t know the difference.

Unfortunately, they won’t have anywhere near the effect at the cellular level. The NEUBIE signal is also engineered to match the dynamics of the body’s internal signals. When the current is sent, it gets interpreted as if actual movement is taking place.

This allows us to identify exactly where there are flaws in the neurological control of movement and retrain them. We all know that proper movement can be very beneficial for the body. That movement always reaches the brain as electrical impulses, and we now have a way to send those same signals directly! And though it’s not a replacement for movement, it sure boosts a movement practice.

In addition, the differences between AC vs. DC. When turned up to a high enough level to make a difference, AC causes co-contraction. In other words, as the AC signal goes back and forth, it causes opposing muscles to fight against each other.

This reinforces poor movement patterns - the very same ones that contribute to injury in the first place. Our DC current promotes eccentric contractions, which research has proven to be a significant factor in effective rehabilitation.
