Dr. Persico is a physical therapist at Bethpage who recently joined the team after graduating from Stony Brook University’s Physical Therapy program in 2019. Joe graduated from the top of his class and has experience treating people with orthopedic conditions of all ages, sports/training-related injuries, and older adults with gait and balance disorders. Joe also has experience working in the acute care hospital setting with people in the immediate days following orthopedic surgeries and people admitted with general medical illnesses and ailments.

Joe comes from a background of sports and training, playing football and lacrosse for most of his life. Before physical therapy school Joe attended Mercy College, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science. At Mercy, he received academic accolades, was a teaching assistant in their anatomy with a cadaver lab, and was a member of their Division 2 Men’s Lacrosse team. Joe’s interests in physical therapy sparked through sport-related injuries and special interests in human sciences, medicine, healthcare, sports, and fitness. He feels that physical treatment allows him to connect with people and integrate all his special interests into something that can impact the community.

Joe is passionate about lifelong learning and developing his hands-on physical therapy skills in treating musculoskeletal dysfunction. He utilizes his manual skills while emphasizing the patient's active role to get the most optimal results. Joe works with his patients to achieve their goals so they can return to doing the things they enjoy. He is a caring and friendly person who is determined to impact the community through quality patient care.
